Travelers should not worry about money exchange anytime they wish. Money exchange should be done in commercial banks widely available in the down-town. However, many hotels dispose also of money exchange booth near the reception desk .

The Tunisian currency is the Dinar (1 US$ ˜ 1.4 Dinar). The dinar is divided in millimes: 1 Dinar = 1000 millimes. Bank notes in circulation are four categories: 5 Dinars, 10 Dinars, 20 Dinars, and 30 Dinars. Probably, visitors will get confused with identifying coins. Coins are divided into 9 categories: 1 Dinar (1000 millimes), 1/2 Dinar (500 millimes), 100 millimes, 50 millimes, 20 millimes, 10 millimes, 5 millimes, 2 millimes, and 1 millime. The last two categories are marely used by Tunisiens due to their unvaluability. To make counting easy for you, we do provide you here with specimen of these categories.

A daily budget for travelers in Tunisia is not costly comparing to Europe or United States. Lunch in Tunisian traditional restaurants and fast-food ranges from 3 to 7 Dinars. Diner, however, is more costly than lunch and depends on each restaurant rating. Entrance to discos and night-clubs also depends on the place you go. Some offer free entrance, while others charge 5~10 Dinars for entrance. In addition, most worldwide credit cards such as, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and others are generally accepted in restaurants and some shops. A minimum daily budget starts from 20 Dinars.
