Language Courses:

Intensive Summer Courses at the Bourguiba Institute of Modern Languages

The Bourguiba Institute of Modern Languages of University of Tunis El Manar receives every summer more than 500 participants from more than 50 countries. Students are integrated within homogeneous groups of 15 to 20. and taught by specialized teachers trained for the purpose. The institute offers the following two programs:

Intensive Arabic Courses

Beginners Course: theoretical and practical course to start-up Arabic language.

Intermediate Course: this course is intended to provide students with more theoretical and practical knowledge of the Arabic language (opportunity to better practice and assimilate the inner acquisitions.

Advanced Course: This course is specially designed for students who have a solid theoretical knowledge and sufficient practice of the Arabic language. It is an opportunity to communicate accurately.

Perfection Course: this course is designed for students who have a solid theoretical and practical knowledge of the Arabic language, culture and civilization. It is intended to improve students’ knowledge and to invite them to do some research about the Arab world.

Tunisian Arabic Courses

The institute also organizes courses in Tunisian Arabic for students interested to learn how to communicate in the Tunisian socio-cultural environment. Two levels are established.

Beginners Course: designed to initiate students to every-day communication.

Perfection Course: intended to improve students’ knowledge of the Tunisian socio-cultural environment.

At the end of each course, a level diploma is delivered to students who succeed in the written and oral examinations.

Extra Activities

Courses are reinforced by cultural activities in order to motivate as well as facilitating a genuine communication among students. The institute also proposes courses related to calligraphy, oriental dancing, Arabic music, and Tunisian traditional cooking. Furthermore, the institute organizes at the week-ends excursions to discover traditional as well as the modern aspects of Tunisia. It also introduces students to Tunisian historical and archeological patrimony.

Housing

Enrolled students are eligible for accommodation in a dormitory located in a residential area near the institute. Available rooms are double, but no meal is served. Rooms’ booking and the enrolment at the institute are made simultaneously. Accommodation fees are paid upon arrival in the dormitories.

Each year from January to the end of May.

A placement test (written and oral) is given to candidates.
