Country Introduction & Map

Tunisia, which is located in the southern side of the Mediterranean, is considered as a main bridge between North-Africa and Europe. Four characteristics attract millions of visitors from all over the world: seaside life-style, exotic desert, impressive Arab-Mediterranean architecture style, and legendary archeological sites.

The mild Mediterranean sea colors influence peoples’ life. Most of the population lives along the 1300 kilometers of coastline. Moreover, moving down to the south one must notice that the Tunisian Desert is unique scenery of dunes, oases, mountains, and the Chott (a salty lake). It is also the home of many top Hollywood movies such as, the Star Wars, English Patient, etc.,

Archeological sites are numerous around the country featuring various eras: Carthage, Roman Colony, Vandals invasion, Byzantines takeover, and the Arab-Islamic period in addition to the largest Roman mosaics displayed in Bardo Museum. This made the country a “carrefour” of civilizations.

In fact, looking to its splendid architecture and various existing archeological sites one must notice how much the country is rich historically.

The spring season, from March through May, is regarded as the flowers season. The Autumn last only for two months: from October to November. The temperature at that time is very convenient to everybody, ranging from 18 to 25 Celsius degrees. The period from December to February is viewed by Tunisians as winter. Visitors during these two seasons will enjoy Saharan Tourism activities.

The Tunisian society is a bilingual one: Arabic and French. English also is taught from the Junior high school.
