Carthage (Qart Hadasht)
The word Carthage has been always annexed to its Warrior Hannibal and its fascinating dominance in the Mediterranean. Visitors are not expected to see a spectacular site that reflects the city’s glorious time since it was totally demolished after the Romans invasion. Most of the remaining ruins are especially columns and vaults, mainly of Romans nature.

Places to visit:
The Roman amphitheatre (dated to Hadrian’s reign) restored and still host the Carthage Festival, the Antonine Baths: designed on three levels: two underground and one on top.
The Tophet: believed to be the place where Elissa (Dido) landed after her escape from her brother Pygmalion, king of Tyr. It is considered also as a Punic Temple, where Carthaginian nobles used to sacrifice their kids to the supreme Gods of Carthage “Baal-Hammon” and “Tanit”.
The ancient site of the Punic port, which is divided into sections: a polygonal commercial port and a circular military port.
